Allotments and Gardens
If you're starting to think a bit more about what you eat and where it comes from, perhaps its time to think of growing some of it yourself?
Welcome to Rathbeggan Lakes Allotments
Established in March 2008 these working allotments have already proved extremely popular. Based on a one year renewable licence, each plot gives you about 120 square metres of growing space. Plenty for an average family who want to experience the rewards of "growing your own!"
Your allotment comes fenced and ploughed, with water laid on. We can offer you rotovating, rubbish removal and weeding service, or you might just want to do all the work yourself!
Farmyard Manure is free; Bark mulch is also provided without charge, and a full range of netting, ground cover, stakes and other gardening essentials are on sale in The Allotment Shop.
Although at the start you might feel overwhelmed by the size of your patch, don't worry, with good organic weed control (Old Carpet), you can work at it a small bit at a time, while the carpet kills the weeds and keeps the ground clear until you are ready to plant it! This and many other tips and tricks are always available to plotholders. Just ask at The Allotment Shop.
Visitors are welcome at any time, and can purchase vegetables and fruit in season from the shop. When you are walking around, please observe the privacy of allotments and stick to the paths! You can also enjoy a stroll through the woodland walk and formal garden. Either way you will enjoy a stroll around these lovely gardens as part of your visit to Rathbeggan Lakes.
Allotments become available from time to time. To get your name on our list or to find out any further information, you can email us at allotments@rathbegganlakes.com or contact 01 8240197
